Changing how we talk about rape
Sohaila Abdulali grew up in a leafy rural area outside Bombay, where her parents raised animals and grew orchids.
The family home belonged to her grandmother, who was the fearsome matriarch of a large family.
In 1980, Sohaila was on a walk with a friend when she was gang raped.
Some years later, angered by the silence after what happened to her, she wrote an article for Indian women’s magazine titled, “I fought for my life… and won.”
Another thirty years passed before the brutal rape and murder of a young girl in Delhi galvanised India into protest. By this time, Sohaila had a family and children of her own, and a flourishing career in New York.
Sohaila's article was rediscovered and shared thousands of times on Facebook and Twitter.

The future of cyber war
David Sanger is the Chief Washington Correspondent for the New York Times.
His work takes him from behind the scenes at the White House Situation Room to the dens of Chinese government hackers to the boardrooms of Silicon Valley.
David recently wrote about a secret unit inside China’s People’s Liberation Army.
Inside, teams of hackers work in an anonymous office building on the outskirts of Shanghai.
In 2014 they stole an enormous cache of secrets from the US by hacking into a government database of 5 million security clearances for US officials.
Inside the cache were the people's identities, their fingerprints, their addresses and their marital status.
David believes the evolution of cyber weapons and hacking techniques will completely upend our notions of warfare.
